Born: 1961
Country: Austria
Education: I studied Computer Science at the University of Linz, Austria.
PHD at ETH Zurich where I was working with Prof. H. Mössenböck and Prof. N. Wirth.
At ETH Zurich I have ported Oberon to Sun SparcStation including a code generator for
SPARC and the Oberon runtime system for SunOS/Solaris.
My PHD thesis was about metaprogramming facilities in the Oberon system, which at least
partly inspired the metaprogramming facilities of BlackBox.
Specialisation: none
Job: self employed, running my own software and consulting company since 1994.
I have created the Oberon-to-C translator ofront, which is now provided
under the free BSD open source license from
https://code.google.com/p/ofront/.
I am using BlackBox since 1996 on a daily basis. In 1996 I started to
develop a rather large commercial system based on BlackBox, then called Oberon/F.
The system is now being used concurrently by about 200 people and it is still actively maintained
in order to fit with new requirements such as SEPA payments or new governmental regulations,
for example.
In order to cope with the requirements of the system I had to extend BlackBox in various aspects.
I would be happy to see at least some of them being introduced in the standard distribution
because synchronizing my private extensions with new releases represents an avoidable overhead
and I believe that most of the changes would be beneficial to others as well.
Besides using Oberon dialects I am also doing some work in Java, C, C++, C# and I have used many
other languages and systems during the past.
