I think it is time to consider switching 1.7.1 from alpha to beta phase
which means no new features for 1.7.1 and only cleanups and bug fixes if something shows up.
1.7.1 is actually urgent because of the Kernel.Upper/Lower bug in 1.7.
This nasty bug has the potential to crash a running BlackBox process and it is a miracle that
not more users complain.

Re: New stable release
The question is if we need a formal voting about that step.Robert wrote:Agree
Since nobody complained so far I guess it is generally agreed on that it is time for switching to beta.
Technically it is simply an update of the file appbuild/AppVersion.txt.

Re: New stable release
Lets just do it without a vote.
If anyone objects we can react to that.

Please tell us when the new release is ready for download.Josef Templ wrote:The question is if we need a formal voting about that step.Robert wrote:Agree

Re: New stable release
Robert, there hasn't been a compiler bug for quite some time now.
Seems to be a good time for releasing 1.7.1 final

I was going to have a look at the RTF bug & fix (when I find some time!). A codepoint error might be ok to delay, but a codepage error sounds more urgent.

Re: New stable release
The high-level steps for creating a release are described in our wiki at https://wiki.blackboxframework.org/inde ... e_Releases.
The problem with a detailed instruction list is that it may become inconsistent with every little change of the Github user interface, for example.
Robert, if you want to go through the release steps, just do it.
Let me know if something is unclear. Update the wiki if you find improvements.
Of course, I can also offer to do it.
Note that after a commit it may take a couple of minutes until the build is completed.
One detail I cannot remember is this: in release v1.7 there are two Source code files (zip and tar.gz)
but I don't know if they have been created automatically or if they have been attached explicitly.
