Naming "Resolved" forums.

Post by Robert »

It can be confusing while tidying up the board having several forums with the name name. I think there would be less chance of errors if the Resolved forums were renamed:

"Resolved (Bugs)"
"Resolved (Features)"
and so on.

Do other people agree to such a change? This is mainly a potential problem for the moderator; it is less of an issue for normal users.

(I am assuming that this is a fairly easy change to make, but I have not actually discovered how to do it!)

Since I am neither in the group of moderators nor administrators of the phpBB forum I don't know how the GUI for
moving topics looks like and what kinds of problems may result from using the same names for nested forums.

From the docu of phpBB it seems that there is a green cogwheel in the GUI for managing forums
that allows for setting a forum's properties. Maybe the name is among those properties.
See https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... ms_manage/.

I have renamed these forums.

I am one (of two) moderators. The other is "bbadmin".

But you have to be an administrator to make these changes. It seems I am also one of the three administrators (which I had not realised!).

Robert, you set some password for forums... I think, that it happened occasionally, because browser "likes" to fill passwords automatically.

I think I have removed them!

Robert, shouldn't the renaming also be applied to 'Rejected'?

Yes.
But I move things to Rejected less often so it is less urgent.

I experimented with renaming just a few to start with in case things went wrong (they did!), and there are less to rename if people object.
I plan to rename the others a bit later.
