I have also noticed (I think) that changing the color of part of a word sometimes causes this 1 pixel shift of some letters.

I would expect this behavior if subpixel rendering is activated.

Doug, the diff file will show nothing, because no single line of sources has been changed.

In the About dialog, does it make a difference if the True Type option is
activated? On my display it shifts the text slightly, maybe 1 pixel but
everything is still visible.
On the big displays mentioned by Ivan, does it make a difference there?

As far as I see, we still don't understand what is going on here.

Making the views larger works around the problem but it is not an
explanation of the underlying problem.

Is it possible that there is a font substitution taking place, I mean that
the requested font is not available and is replaced by a different font that has
a different metric?

I am running on Windows 10 and the about box looks fine.
It does shift slightly when true type is toggled on and off
as Josef said.

I checked this hypothesis, there is Arial everywhere. So this is not the problem of fonts substitution.

The problem exists in WIndows 10 because of scale factor. If you set scale factor to 100% there will not be any problem.

We can enlarge the embedded view size a bit for preventing this problem with scale factor.

I don't know how Ivan change the view size in the About dialog. When I changed the view size the display still was cut.

Similar problems I have with forms, but there it works when I enlarge the view.

There are several level of embedded views. I opened the view with popup menu, then switched to edit mode and enlarge the views sizes. Then save and close this aux window.

I cannot reproduce this problem in Windows 10.
I used a scaling of 100%, 200%, 225%, 288%, 300%, no problem.
I assume that you are talking about the DPI scaling factor under display settings, right?
I havn't found any other setting.
