It may be more economic if we do it the other way round,
i.e. decide first if we take the simple or the complex path
and then, only if required, work out the details of the complex path.

How to vote about the issues?

Re: issue-#95 TextMapper Scanner & SETS
This issue is not ready for voting yet, because you and Chris showing that you do not like the suggested solution. So the voting will be not about the issue, but about the programming style.Josef Templ wrote:It may be more economic if we do it the other way round,

Re: issue-#95 TextMapper Scanner & SETS
Ivan, there seems to be a misunderstanding here.
My proposal is to decide (i.e. vote) about going for option 1 or 2, i.e.
1. change the program
2. change the docu
With "simple approach" I mean to go for option 2
not to simplify the coding of option 1.

Josef, I am understanding you right. We can think about the acceptable solution first. And then choose. Now you and Chris can not accept this changing, because of the state machine. So we can think how to solve this first. And then make voting. Do not worry about the power spent for solving. Anyway it can be applied in the users versions. Many users are doing extra patches of BlackBox for their needs.

Ivan, you still don't understand me.
I am in favor of option 2 no matter how the
coding of option 1 is done.
In other words: for me there is no reason to even think about
the coding of option 1 because I don't like to change the code at all.

I do not want you to think about the coding. You is not the only coder in the team.
You are talking like you 100% sure that option 2 will win in the voting. This looks a bit offensive.
You and Chris do not like the state machine solution, so if apply the patch it should be done the way most part of team like it.

Re: How to vote about the issues?
Although I don't like state machines if it fixes the bugs then it is better than the original. The original was attempting to trap errors so that is what it should do.
