issue-#32 Folds arrows display
Re: issue-#32 Folds arrows display
I like Ivan's choice, but prefer triangle rather than arrow: more recognisable more simple drawing

If many people are thinking about triangles (Bernhard, Luowy, ...) we can make two step voting:luowy wrote:I like Ivan's choice, but prefer triangle rather than arrow: more recognisable more simple drawing
- Arrows vs. Triangles
- Fonts vs. Ports drawing
Re: issue-#32 Folds arrows display
I am not sure if we should interweave both votes, I think they are not really dpendent on each other.Ivan Denisov wrote: If many people are thinking about triangles (Bernhard, Luowy, ...) we can make two step voting:

Yes, this can be separate votes. Do I understand you right?bernhard wrote:I am not sure if we should interweave both votes, I think they are not really dpendent on each other.Ivan Denisov wrote: If many people are thinking about triangles (Bernhard, Luowy, ...) we can make two step voting:

yes, I think that the votes should be independent and separate.Ivan Denisov wrote:Yes, this can be separate votes. - Arrows vs. Triangles

Voting 2:
- Fonts vs. Ports drawing

Re: issue-#32 Folds arrows display
Josef, there is a need to vote. Many members took part in the discussion. We can not move on in the solution without voting now.
Re: issue-#32 Folds arrows display
Sorry Ivan, a vote does not help.
First you need the solution before you can vote.
There is no need to use the same font in all platforms.
Of course you can create your own fonts for displaying folds, links and targets.
Please do this in a separated module.
You may call it StdFonts and use your solution in StdFolds and StdLinks.
Then we have the choice to use your new font or any other fonts available in the system.
One solution already exist. You can download the latest CPC Edition and see how it looks like in Wine.
I only can test it in Windows and Wine. On both systems the results looks very pretty.
I have no idea how it looks on Linux or Mac.
As long as we get no response from Linux or Mac users we don't know if the result is alright and looks good there.

Helmut, let Center members also make decision. Why do you think, that your opinion is higher?
You know, that I already have this fixes in my edition of BlackBox. I am the author of this known solution of folds, however I am continue working on better BlackBox.

My new solution does not require using of Fonts. It uses Ports drawing. There is no need for using fonts in StdFolds at all.Zinn wrote:Of course you can create your own fonts for displaying folds, links and targets.

I prepared new good demo week ago, please try it.

This solution can be improved, but for working more I need to know the Center decision. Now we have different views. We need to decide. Your opinion is clear now, so you can vote for arrows and fonts.
