Join GitHub CenterTeam to get repository writting permission

Post by Ivan Denisov »

This topic was split from http://forum.blackboxframework.org/view ... f=40&t=184

To work with Center repository that is located in GitHub you need to register and send to me or to Josef the login. We will add you to the repository owners and you will be able to create topic branches and write to repository by Git software.

This is the task for all members!!! Please, send me your logins from GitHub.

GitHub sucks! (sorry for the language and here is why)
In attempting to abide by Ivan's request I logged into GitHub and saw they wanted to verify
my email so I pressed the email verification button but did not receive a verification email.
I then saw that the email they had for me was incorrect (missing a 'o'). I attempted to change that
email but there is no mechanism in GitHub that allowed me to do that. So I deleted the account
hoping to start fresh. When I then created an account with the same information as previously GitHub complained that that account had just been deleted and that I should contact GitHub support. Why in heavens names is
THAT necessary!?? So what if the account had just been deleted? I then created a new account with different name and password and that worked. But that name is not my first choice. I claim the GitHub has a BUG in not being able to modify one's email address. Oh, by the way, when I attempted to ADD another email address to my original account with the correct email GitHub complained and said that email was already taken!! Catch-22! Very bad system design.

Doug, so what is your GitHub login?

You can change the email here: https://github.com/settings/emails
Add new email and set as primary.

I thought Doug was being a bit harsh until I tried to create an account.

Whatever I typed into the username field elicited the response "Username taken", then it began complaining about my blank password. Hopeless.

Nonsense, GitHub does allow you to change your e-mail address.
But first you must have a valid login and then you can enter another e-mail and set
that 2nd e-mail as your primary e-mail address. I guess that the typo in the e-mail address
caused all the confusion and may be raised an alarm inside GitHub.

@Doug: if GitHub tells you to contact GitHub support, why don't you contact GitHub support?

Doug and Helmut joined the team in GitHub, so can make branches and push data to repository.

I think, that we need good demo how to prepare data and issue before voting. I will try to make such demo soon.

I still have no idea how to join.

I go to

https://github.com/join

and the moment I type anything into the "Username" field I get the error message "Username is already taken".

Am I doing something wrong?
