Dear center members,

As the new chair I would like to thank you for your trust in my person
and I would also like to thank Doug for his efforts during his term.
A lot has been achieved so far:
We have the center (thanks to Rene),
we have an administrator (thanks to Ivan),
we have a forum,
we have a host,
we have a repository,
we have an issue tracker,
we have a development process,
we have an automated build engine,
we have already done some changes,
we have a plan for the next steps (thanks to Helmut).

An updated Wiki chair page can be found under

As you see there, my preferences are to continue working on the 1.7 release.
I am convinced that keeping up with the backlog of changes in the CPC edition
is crucial in order to avoid a split of the BlackBox world into slightly incompatible versions.

Since 1.7 is a lot of work and a lot of votings, I propose to really focus on this and
to make organizational changes only if necessary for reaching this goal.
The organization/process is a tool not a goal. It should help us reaching our
goal (Release 1.7) effectively.

Best regards and best wishes for a happy and successful new year.

- Josef
