Should I proceed with changing the menu keys as proposed by Helmut?
All menu keys and menu item keys would get an ampersand (&) as the first character.
Then there is a clear distinction between keys used for menus or menu items and
keys that are used for something else but happen to have the same name.

e.g.
#System:File changes to #System:&File
#System:New changes to #System:&New

changed all menu and menu item keys to "&<key>" as proposed by Helmut.

I have also added localization support for the menu "COM".

The following unused entries have been removed from System/Rsrc/Strings:
Send Document... Send &Document...
Send Note... Send Not&e...

In the SQL menu the entries are slightly reordered, viz. the examples are moved down to the Help section
and the 'Debug Options' are moved up to 'Execute', to which they apply.

For the changes see http://redmine.blackboxframework.org/pr ... 299dd710d7.

For testing use http://blackboxframework.org/unstable/i ... a1.340.zip.

This #80 topic localizable menus did not start with a definition of "localizable".
I currently only go by what is written here. I do not yet know how to find BB1.7 #80
but since I just upgraded my MacBook to 4GB RAM and 320 GB disk I should now be able
to use GIT (after a learning period).

So what is meant by localizable?
Is this all simply so that multiple human languages can be specified in the Strings mapping?

You know the BlackBox menu shown in the English language:
File - Edit - Attribute - Info - Dev - Tools - Controls - Text - ...

Changing the preference language from English to Spanish it will show the BlackBox menu in Spanish:
Archivo - Edición - Atributos - Info - Dev - Herramientas - Controles - Texto - ...
Changing the preference language from English to French it will show the BlackBox menu in French:
Fichier - Édition - Attributs - Info - Dév - Outils - Contrôles - Texte - ...
Changing the preference language from English to German it will show the BlackBox menu in German:
Datei - Bearbeiten - Attribute - Info - Dev - Extra - Extra - Steuerung - Text - ...
Changing the preference language from English to Russian it will show the BlackBox menu in Russian:
Файл - Правка - Шрифт - Инфо - Разработка - Инструменты - Диалоги - Текст - ...
Changing the preference language from English to Polish it will show the BlackBox menu in Polish:
Plik - Opracuj - Atrybuty - Informacja - Dev - Narzedzia - Kontolki - Tekst - ...

To 'localize' a program means to adapt it to a different language and/or other region specific aspects.
In our case it is about multi-language support in Strings and, in a different issue, for the docu files.
Software that is ready for localization is sometimes also called 'internationalized'.
Our menus are now internationalized and can be localized by providing appropriate Strings files.
Technically, this follows from using Strings resources for the names of menu entries in issue-#80.
This feature was already present in BB1.6 but it was not used for menus.

The downloadable builds for any issue x can be found under the subdirectory for issue x
in http://blackboxframework.org/unstable/. The latest version is the one
with the highest build number, which is the same as the one with the latest date/time.

The link to the development versions can be found on our 'Main page' under 'All development versions'.

For more easy testing I made the same trick as I did before.

The version for testing is:
http://blackboxframework.org/unstable/i ... a1.347.zip

There are some error messages in Log when open Prefs dialog, because some Host/Rsrc/String.odc entries are missing. This will be ok after merge with master.

From my point of view this issue is ready for voting.

Now the key should not contain any TAB character, however the value can contain it if necessary. This solves the problem.

This was not ok...
I made hotfix for preventing log messages in production version.
