I am ready. Do we have a list of those willing or is it only Rene?

I am ready, too.
But please remember that there are different issues involved that require separate votes.
The votes can be done in parallel, though.

1. Do you want to install a chairperson?
2. If yes, is the role of the chairperson rotating or not?
3. If rotating, what is the period: e.g. 1 year, 6 month, 3 month?
4. Who is the chairperson?
5. Do you agree that he task of the chairperson is ...?

The first 3 could actually be combined into one vote.

ad 5: My understanding is that the task of the chairperson is to run the votes. In most organizations
there is also an option for votes being requested by a group of people, for example 3.
So the rules might be like this:
The chairperson is the one who formulates, starts and runs a vote and communicates the result.
The chairperson can start a vote without support from other center members.
In addition, a group of at least 3 center members can request the chairperson to start a vote.

(BTW, I have used the gender neutral term chairperson instead of chairman
because there is a strong move towards gender neutral terms in many countries.)

Rene has said, that he can be the chairperson if we ask him to be this person. So he will not initiate vote for him self. Do you trust me to initiate the vote for the chairperson duty?

The vote project based on the discussion:

"Do we want a chairperson with rotation period 1 year, whose duty is
(0) to be sure that any center member knows about any vote (at least about important questions);
(1) to formulates, starts and runs the voting thread after a prior discussion (i.e. makes sure that voting threads are not started without sufficient prior discussion);
(2) to inspect "any center member wrote his vote", finish the voting, count;
(3) to start a vote if the group of at least 3 center members request the chairperson to do this."

The answers:
- yes
- no
- abstain

No, make multiple votes. Otherwise there is never a complete set of choices.
The first vote may combine the first 3 topics I mentioned before:

I want to have a chairperson for an unlimited period
I want to have a chairperson for a 1 year period
I want to have a chairperson for a 6 month period
I want to have a chairperson for a 3 month period
I want to have no chairperson
I don't care
I don't like any of the alternatives

Don't mix in the duties of the chairperson or the candidate into this vote.
By assuming that there will be a decision for installing a chairperson
you can start in parallel another vote for the duties and another one for the person.
It only takes a few mouse clicks for a center member to vote,
so it can still be done in a short time.

If "I want to have no chairperson" wins there will be no need in duties :) so I prefer the sequence voting. Let's wait some third agree voice and then start this first step that you have just suggested.

Is everybody OK with the *role* of the chairman described above? If not, please say so.

Doug, I see that you really want to get this over with, and I appreciate this.

I think that we should now formulate the votes, which as of yet has not been done. While the topic of "chairperson" itself is not a biggie, the process of formulating a vote for the very first time is important, IMHO.

All,

I propose:

****************************************************
Vote 1:
I want a chairperson whose responsibility is
(0) to make sure that every center member knows about any vote (at least about important questions);
(1) to formulate, start and run the voting thread after a prior discussion (i.e. makes sure that voting threads are not started without sufficient prior discussion);
(2) when each center member has voted, to finish the votin and count the votes;
(3) to start a vote if the group of at least X (number to be later defined) center members request the chairperson to do this."

[ ] yes
[ ] no
[ ] None of the above
[ ] I don't care
****************************************************
Vote 2:
The chairperson is voted
[ ] once
[ ] every year
[ ] every 6 months
[ ] every 3 months
[ ] None of the above
[ ] I don't care
****************************************************
Vote 3:
I want
[ ] Name
[ ] Name
[..]
[ ] None of the above
[ ] I don't care

as chairperson.
****************************************************

OK, it's time for a poll. I just found out that all center members have the
possibility to set up a poll and so I took the freedom to try this out
with the first two votes proposed by Rene.
The polls can easily be edited should there be any need.
