Release 1.7.2

Post by Josef Templ »

I would like to propose making a release (1.7.2) in the near future.
There haven't been any significant problems recently and there is one
significant extension for 1.7.2, which is the integrated run time debugger.

I'm happy with this suggestion.

What about the missing Utf8 converter in HostTextConv?
See my proposal at

It would be nice to have such future.

This could be included indeed, I think.
A bit of fine tuning may be required, though.

I think it is a good time now for release 1.7.2.

The steps would be:
0. create an infrastructure issue for the release
1. update About dialog with current Copyright year
2. update AppVersion.txt to 1.7.2-b1
3. push to master
4. announce 1.7.2 Beta on the community board

Anything else?

Do the last eight lines of System/Rsrc/Strings all get updated automatically?

I guess other steps are version 1.7.2-rc#, then version 1.7.2 stable, then update the download page (http://blackboxframework.org/index.php? ... page,en-us).

This all feels a bit bureaucratic to me, but maybe it is necessary?

The standard process is a bit bureaucratic in this case, I do agree. In particular because the changes are small and there is not much community testing to be expected. So we can go to rc1 immediately if the center agrees.

I think skipping beta, and going straight to rc, is fine (in this case).

Yes, System/Rsrc/Strings all get updated automatically. The only exception is, as far as I remember, the copyright year.
