Re: 8pt vs 9pt vs 10pt Arial
I currently used the fixed width font Consolas 9pt when I'm writing code and Calibri 11pt for documentation. However, font preferences are so subjective I don't see any point in changing the default. What could be done is to highlight how to change the default in the installation notes or, even better, include the choice as an option as part of the actual setup process if it is thought to be that important.

Abstain
Re: 8pt vs 9pt vs 10pt Arial
Both nice fonts which I have never noticed as I have only recently switched from XP.cfbsoftware wrote:I currently used the fixed width font Consolas 9pt when I'm writing code and Calibri 11pt for documentation.
If we set the default to be very large (12 + pt) the report from StdStamps looks silly as the Ruler tabs are no longer suitably placed.
What else might we break if we change the default Font?

Anyway the user have to change default font, so this logic is not working here.Robert wrote:What else might we break if we change the default Font?
If we change the font to one which is more suitable we will debug all the such places sooner.
Abstain means that you do not want to change default font? So you can choose 8pt to keep the old version.

It depends on a screen resolution or display size.

Helmut, did you vote here?
Re: 8pt vs 9pt vs 10pt Arial
No. It means I thought this was such an unimportant subject that I did not want to extend the discussion. If other people really wanted 11.35 pt font I wasn't going to argue against it - we have more important business (64-bit, IEEE 754 arithmetic compliance, operator overloading, making the About box work, making ourselves popular, ...)Ivan Denisov wrote:Robert wrote:Abstain means that you do not want to change default font?

This question is very important, believe me. I am working with students and pupils, and see how first users impression about BlackBox can damage workflow.

Sorry, not yet. I through about this question. For me it more important to change the menu text default from 8 pt to 10 pt.Ivan Denisov wrote:Helmut, did you vote here?
I am getting old and my eyes can't read small letters well. So I increase the operating system scale factor from 100% to 125%.
Further I changed form my nice 14'' laptop (Tuxedo Book UC1403) to a 15'' laptop (Tuxedo IninityBook 15) 2 month ago.
Most programs (e.g. Words) uses 10 pt as default. About the document default I prefer 10 pt but 9 pt is also ok.
I understand that increasing document default will produce some trouble for our programming members.
ETH Oberon also uses 9 pt as default.
Currently my I vote is abstain
